Savannah busied herself a week or two ago using Halen's blocks to construct a vast city that sprawled across the room. When she finished she excitedly ushered Shannon and I to the doorway and proudly displayed her creation.
"Wow!" I gushed. "Did you build this city on rock and roll?"
"Wow!" I gushed. "Did you build this city on rock and roll?"
"Um... yeah!" she piped.
That's my girl. I was watching VH1 a few years ago and they voted "We Built This City" the worst song of all time. However, that distinction actually belongs to "Photograph" by Nickelback. Every time I hear it, I'm amazed all over again at what an awful song it is. It's so hideous it defies logic. If it were a vegetable, it would be an eggplant. If it were a car, it would be a Yugo. If it were an insect, it would be a stinkbug. I can't think of one redeemable quality the song possesses, except the fact that it eventually ends.
And that could also be the only redeemable quality of this blog post. And I'm cool with that. As long as my little girl keeps building her cities on rock and roll (the good kind that doesn't make you want to write graffiti on walls or kick animals or use firearms illegally).
